Npower League Two joint leaders Southend United and Cheltenham Town both registered wins this weekend as Crawley dropped points, but it still remains as tight as ever in England's fourth tier.

Paul Sturrock's Southend struck five on the road at Northampton. It was in fact the Cobblers who led at the break courtesy of John Johnson and Saido Berahino strikes.

The 2-1 scoreline was overturned in the second-half however, as braces by Liam Dickinson and Tunisian Bilel Mohsni saw the Essex club continue their good run this campaign. Dave Martin grabbed the other goal for the Shrimpers as promotion rivals Cheltenham also won.

Mark Yates' Robins overcame Aldershot 2-0 courtesy of goals at the beginning and end of the game. Luke Summerfield gave the hosts a perfect start with a 10th minute strike, but they had to wait until the 90th minute before Kaid Mohamed struck the second and made Cheltenham fans sigh with relief as they kept the pace with Southend at the top of the table.

Elsewhere, division strugglers Plymouth Argyle registered a crucial 2-1 win against Burton Albion. Simon Walton fired a brace and his second was a dramatic 89th minute penalty winner which draws the Pilgrims level on points with 22nd placed Dagenham and Redbridge.

Dagenham couldn't match the heroics of Plymouth as they went down 1-0 at home in a six-pointer with Hereford United. A Yoann Arquin strike gave the Bulls all three points and a four point advantage over their hosts.

One point ahead of Hereford are Lawrie Sanchez's Barnet who achieved a stand-out result in beating Accrington Stanley 3-0 away from home. The win lifted the Bees to 20th place on 26 points.

There was a late show of goals at Valley Parade as an 86th minute Andrew Davies own goal got Morecambe back in the game at 1-1. There were two more goals to come however as defender Marcel Seip thought he had scored the winner on 89 minutes, only to be denied two minutes later by Kevin Ellison. The Bantams continue to underachieve in League Two this season following this 2-2 score line.

Bristol Rovers caretaker boss Shaun North has made steady progress at the Memorial Stadium with a respectable 0-0 home draw with high-flyers Crawley, who now trail leaders Southend and Cheltenham following this slip up.

Torquay remain in touch with the play-off spots after a 2-1 victory at Macclesfield.

Crewe remain steadily in mid-table under the stewardship of Steve Davis after a 1-0 victory away at play-off contenders Oxford United.

AFC Wimbledon remain on course to consolidate in their maiden League Two campaign after a notable 2-1 victory away at Port Vale. Luke Moore struck the winner on 77 minutes.

A Matt Ritchie brace proved decisive as Paolo Di Canio's Swindon were victorious by 2-1 at the Don Valley Stadium. Rotherham replied after 2-0 via an Alex Revell effort but it wasn't enough in the end.

And finally, Graham Turner's Shrewsbury Town overcame fellow play-off contenders Gillingham by 2-0. Goals by Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Mark Wright kept the points in Shropshire.
