The former Reds goalkeeper, who won a European cup and six league titles during his time on Merseyside, understands a new forward will be arriving at Anfield this month.
"There are two strikers [Liverpool are interested in]," said Grobbelaar. "I know that [Kenny Dalglish] is looking at a South American striker who is playing in Holland and I know that he's quite close in getting another striker.
"I'm not going to be the one to actually tell you who, but I'm sure that the striker will be arriving soon."
With Luis Suarez banned until mid-February and Andy Carroll struggling to rediscover the form that prompted Liverpool to pay £35million for his signature last January, Dalglish is keen to bolster his attacking options in a bid to close-in on the top-four this season.
The Reds have suffered a lack of goals, particularly at Anfield in 2011-12, and after Saturday's 0-0 draw with Stoke City, it has only exemplified their need for reinforcements.
