Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is a reported target for nouveau-riche Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, amid suggestions he could be sold in January.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Anzhi are keen to land the 30-year-old, as are Russian Premier League rivals CSKA Moscow.
However, Bayer Leverkusen are also in the hunt for Berbatov, who was spotted flying to Germany for talks with his former employers on Monday.
Berbatov's contract with Manchester United expires in the summer, but Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed the club want to activate the option of a one-year extension.
The Bulgarian, however, appears to be exploring the possibility of leaving Old Trafford, and it is likely a substantial offer from Anzhi will be difficult for United to refuse.
Berbatov has made only nine Barclays Premier League appearances this season, but has found the net on six occasions.
This includes a hat-trick in the rout of Wigan and Boxing Day, and a brace in the loss to Blackburn five days later.
