Barca star rules out Arsenal move

Barcelona defender Eric Abidal will 'never' join Arsenal, according to the agent of the France international.

Abidal put pen to paper on a contract extension with Barca on Monday and will stay at the Nou Camp for at least one more season.

He had, however, been linked with a move to Arsenal as his previous deal neared expiration, although whether or not the Gunners made a formal approach remains unclear.

Meanwhile, an eventual transfer to the Emirates Stadium also appears to be out of the question, with Barca retaining the option to extend Abidal's contract by a further two seasons.

And David Venditelli has categorically stated that a move to Arsenal for his client is out of the question.

"The only thing I can tell you is that Eric will never sign with Arsenal," Venditelli told the International Business Times.

Abidal signed for Barca for €9 million from Lyon in 2009 and has since made 177 appearances for the European champions.

The Frenchman missed two months of last season after undergoing successful surgery to remove a tumour discovered on his liver.
