Newcastle United sealed the signature of £10 million hitman Papiss Demba Cisse from Freiburg on Tuesday night, and he will be worth every penny according to one ex-Newcastle legend.

Malcolm MacDonald claims Cisse will be a big hit at the Sport Direct Arena and believes he can take the pressure off another Demba; this time Ba; in scoring the goals in the Magpies' bid for Europa League football this season.

MacDonald said: "There's not been somebody else who has been able to take that little bit of goal-scoring pressure off Demba Ba.

"The onus has been on him and this will balance things outs a little bit."

Indeed, Cisse's career goalscoring record has been impressive, notching 35 goals in 95 games for Metz and 37 in 65 for Freiburg.

If he is to carry on his good form into the Premier League, Toon fans can feel very excited, considering Demba Ba has already struck 15 this term.

However, eager fans anticipating the new striking partnership will have to wait until February 1st at the earliest, and the away fixture with Blackburn Rovers to potentially see the Demba double-act.

The pair are both currently away on African Cup of Nations duty with Senegal, and will only figure at Blackburn if Senegal fail to progress through a group consisting of Equatorial Guinea, Libya and Zambia.

Toon fans may have to wait a little longer, but the Demba duo will soon look to inflict damage on Premier League defences up and down the nation.
