The 20-year-old has struggled for first team football at Villa after featuring regularly during the early stages of the season, and hasn’t played since appearing in Villa’s 2-0 defeat against Liverpool in December.
Delph arrived at Leeds’ training ground after a deal was agreed between the two sides that sees the Leeds academy youth product return to his former club for one month, rather than the season long deal that had been reported in the media.
Leeds boss Simon Grayson admitted he was delighted to have secured the services of Delph, describing the switch as a ‘great deal for both parties’.
“We've been talking for a couple of weeks now with Villa about the possibility of bringing Fab back to the club," Grayson told leedsunited.com.
"As everyone knows Fab is a talented footballer who did very well here and secured himself a big move on the back of what he did.
"This is a great deal for both parties. Fab will get some football and he is the calibre of player that we've been looking to bring in here.
"I'd like to thank Alex McLeish and Villa for allowing Fab to join us." He added.
McLeish admitted earlier this week that he was unhappy with Delph’s performances during his run in the side, saying that the player himself agreed that his efforts had been under-par.
"He started seven or eight in a row for us at the start of the season but we've been looking for somebody to give us eight out of 10 performances every week,” the Scot told the Birmingham Mail.
"Some of the lads have given some good performances but not quite got to the peak of their powers, and Delph admits that."
Leeds face a backlash after ‘reluctantly’ agreeing a fee with Norwich for captain Jonathan Howson, with the move for Delph seen as a way of appeasing fans angry at the prospect of losing one of their brightest talents.
Delph is available to play in Leeds’ upcoming Championship outing against Ipswich at Elland Road this weekend.
