A GiveMeFootball poll has revealed that Liverpool fans want Darren Bent to move to Anfield in January.

The exclusive vote took place on facebook, with Reds fans placing Demba Ba a close second, whilst Lille forward Moussa Sow was third on the supporters' radar.

Nikica Jelavic came in a distant fourth, whilst Dutch international Ricky Van Wolfswinkel gained little support from the Merseyside faithful.

Of the 11,575 participants, 45% picked Aston Villa hitman Bent as the player to solve the goalscoring problems currently hindering Kenny Dalglish's side.

The former Sunderland striker has a proven track-record in the Barclays Premier League, but wouldn't be a cheap option if his previous transfers are anything to go by. He left Spurs for the Black Cats for a fee that could have risen to £16.5 million, and two years later switched to Villa Park for £24 million.

Second placed Ba has quickly risen to prominence in the Barclays Premier League, scoring goals in West Ham's ill-fated fight against relegation and again finding the net freely after making the switch to Newcastle in the summer.

With 29% of the vote, Ba has plenty of support from Reds fans across the globe.

Ligue 1 hitman Sow rose to prominence last season, with his goals helping Lille to the French title in the process.

Alongside teammate Eden Hazard, the Senegalese international has become one of the hottest properties in Europe, and 15% of Liverpool fans would like to see him at the club.

Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic, whose father claimed he favoured a Reds move over other potential suitors, did badly with the fans, earning just 7% of the vote.

As for Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, his 4% of votes suggests the majority do not want to see the Sporting Lisbon striker make the move this month.
