Young Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel has revealed he has always dreamed of playing at Wembley.

The Spanish centre-half was speaking ahead of the Gunners fourth round FA Cup tie with Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

While maintaining Arsene Wenger’s side must be focused on the tie with Villa, Miquel could not deny his desire to play at the famous stadium.

“It is a dream to play at Wembley in a big final. First, we have to go step by step, but obviously if we can get to Wembley it would be a big, big thing for us,” he told the official Arsenal website.

“We have not won a title for quite long, so it would be great for us. But our next game is on Sunday against Aston Villa and we must focus on that.

“If we keep working and stay mentally strong we can get through it.”

Arsenal’s last round saw the fairy-tale return of Thierry Henry, with the Frenchman coming off the bench to score the winner against Leeds United in the third round.

Miquel played in that game, and he made his FA Cup debut in the same fixture last year. He's also hoping to be involved in the tie against Villa.

He may be disappointed, however, as Thomas Vermaelen returned to the side in the loss to Manchester United last weekend, and the Belgian is likely to be preferred to fill in.

Arsenal are favourites to win the tie, but the 19-year-old wanted to remind those who are expecting victory to be routine that the FA Cup is anything but.

"Anyone can beat anyone in cup competitions. You saw in the Carling Cup that Manchester United lost at home to a Championship team [Crystal Palace],” he added.

“These games are completely different from the league, so anyone we play will be a hard game. Of course the big teams have a good chance in the FA Cup, but you have to stay focused and make sure you beat who is in front of you.”
