Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has baulked at a deal for Porto striker Hulk after being quoted a whopping £83million.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Andre Villas-Boas wants to bring the Brazilian international to Stamford Bridge, but the price has put off the Blues owner.

The £83million figure would be a world record fee, just edging past the £80 million Real Madrid paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hulk is interesting a number of Europe’s biggest clubs, but Porto are reportedly reluctant to sell him for anything less than the price quoted.

This price comes from the €100million buy-out clause in his current contract, something that Chelsea’s owner seems to be unwilling to meet.

The report claims that Villas-Boas wants to be reunited with Hulk at Stamford Bridge as he tries to continue revamping his squad following the signing of Gary Cahill.

Villas-Boas managed the 25-year-old last season when he was at Porto, and they had a fruitful time together in a record-breaking season for the Portuguese club.

This report would suggest ‘AVB’ feels Hulk would be an ideal addition to Blues squad, with several of the current squad over the age of 30.

Were Hulk to join Chelsea, he would line up with fellow Brazil internationals David Luiz and Ramires.
