Nordfeldt: Liverpool like me

Swedish goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt claims he's preparing to begin talks over a move to Liverpool.

The 22-year-old has been without a club since leaving IF Brommapojkarna last summer.

With Alexander Doni linked with a move to Sao Paulo, after failing to make an appearance this season for The Reds, Nordfeldt has been targeted as his replacement.

"It's really exciting. I'll be flying to Liverpool on Monday with my agent," Nordfeldt told

"Of course it feels good but I don’t want to get overexcited because of this. I’ll just try to play it cool and see what they want to offer me.

"I know myself and have worked hard these last few months. I know that Liverpool likes me and has watched me for a long time. They like me so all I can do is believe in myself."

Pepe Reina has been an ever-present for Kenny Dalglish's side this season, with both Doni and Australian Brad Jones left kicking their heels.

The decision not to feature either of Reina's understudy's this season has been strange one on the part of Dalglish, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United quick to rest their first-choice stoppers.

In addition, the club are also in talks to sign Welsh under-19 international Danny Ward from Wrexham, despite Kenny Dalglish maintaining the club weren't looking to conclude any business between now and the end of the January transfer window.

The likelihood is that both players will be signed with the intention off featuring for the youth team, rather than going straight into the Anfield first-team squad.
