Manchester City have the potential to create Premier League history by winning five titles in a row, according to their captain Vincent Kompany.

Having led the title race since October 15, City are favorites to clinch their first championship since 1968. And the Belgian centre-back believes City now have the resources and capabilities to beat the top flight record of three titles in a row held by Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Huddersfield Town.

He told The Daily Express: "I can’t take satisfaction out of winning only one title. With the team and the potential we have at this club, I’d like to see us winning four or five titles in succession – being relentless, in fact."

Meanwhile, Kompany has returned to training after recovering from a knee injury that kept him out of City's victory over Fulham last Saturday.

The injury and a four-match ban, following his sending off against Manchester United last month, has left City without their Belgian international for five of their last six matches.

But the 25-year-old former Anderlecht starlet is now expected to return for Sunday's trip to Aston Villa, with City hoping to maintain their stranglehold at the top of the table.
