Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge reckons that Tottenham would be lucky to get £25m for Dele Alli.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club this month, but Bridge believes that his dip in form in recent seasons has led to a massive drop in his value.

What's the latest news involving Alli?

It's actually quite surprising that Alli is still a Tottenham player by this point. He's gone from being one of the top players in the Premier League and a regular for England less than five years ago, to being nothing more than a squad player. He did enjoy a brief improvement in game-time under Nuno Espirito Santo, but it's been a familiar story under Antonio Conte.

Alli's only start in any competition in 2022 came against Morecambe, while he's made just two starts since the end of September and one of those was because of a Covid-19 outbreak in the squad ahead of the draw with Liverpool before Christmas.

On Sunday, Alli was left out of the 20-man Tottenham squad that were beaten at Chelsea, which is the clearest indication yet that he will finally leave the North Londoners before the window closes.

According to Football Insider, the former MK Dons youngster has told friends that he wants to join Newcastle, with Eddie Howe's side opening preliminary talks over a move to St James' Park.

Tottenham are open to Alli leaving either on loan or permanently, and Bridge thinks that if he does leave on a permanent transfer, he could be sold for £75m less than what he was once worth.

What did Bridge say about Alli?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "This is someone who Tottenham thought, oh my goodness, we've paid about £5m from MK Dons, we could now sell him for £100m. Now you're lucky to get £25m."

Is Alli worth £25m?

He's done little of note in the last three-and-a-half years, so Tottenham could have few complaints if they only get around £25m for his services.

In the 2017-2018 season, he scored 14 goals and assisted 17 more in 50 games. Since then, Alli has scored 21 goals and laid on 20 assists in more than 120 outings, highlighting the incredible drop in his game.

Alli, 6ft2, doesn't turn 26 until April, meaning he potentially has another six or seven years at the top level, but his decline in recent seasons is quite remarkable, so Bridge's valuation feels accurate.
