Manchester City are planning a bid for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, according to the Daily Star.

The 24-year-old is yet to agree an extension to his current deal at Madrid.

With talking having stalled, City are planning a bid for the Argentine, to continue their dominance domestically and in Europe.

Both Chelsea and Manchester United are reported interested in Di Maria, who has scored eight goals and made 13 assists in all competition this term.

Madrid lead La Liga by 10 points following their victory over Levante, while City head the Premier League table by two.

Having been knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage, City are expected to invest in their squad again to prevent against similar disappointment next term.

Madrid have previously claimed they've rejected a move from Chelsea for Di Maria, a bid reportedly to be in the region of £38 million.

Adam Johnson is the only genuine wide-man in the City squad, with erratic performances often restricting his game time.
