Brazil starlet handed Spurs trial

Bruno Uvini has been handed a three-month trial period at Tottenham Hotspur, according to various reports today.

The 20-year-old Sao Paulo defender is yet to arrive in England, but speculation in the English media is already rife that the player will complete a permanent move to White Hart Lane for £3.1 million in the summer.

Whilst Spurs have not confirmed the claims, Uvini was happy to admit that the opportunity to play in England is one that he was simply unable to resist.

"It's a great opportunity that came by, I couldn't let it pass. I have been in talks with Tottenham for a while, it's a great club, with worldwide visibility. They asked me to come right away," Uvini told the official Sao Paulo website.

"It'll be there for three months during which time I'll try to adapt to English football and to the culture. I think I'm going to evolve, both professionally and personally by doing this choice.

"[Tottenham] have this squad renewing project so they asked me to join the team so that I will be fit to make my way in the next season."

Spurs' current position in the Premier League has also played a part in Uvini's decision, with the youngster admitting that the lure of Champions League football played its part in the decision he ultimately made.

Captain of the Brazilian U20 side that won the World Cup in Colombia in August, Uvini will bring leadership, as well as a commanding presence, to his spell in the capital as he looks to secure a full-time move.

"To play the Champions League is every player's dream," he added.

"In the preparation period ahead of matches we used to watch the games and play it in video games too. I hope this is the right path for me."
