Manchester United and Barcelona are set to go head-to-head in the race to sign highly-rated Valencia defender Adil Rami.
The French international defender, who signed at the Mestalla Stadium last January, has impressed in Spain this term after spending the end of last season back on loan at Ligue 1 champions Lille.
His form has alerted clubs across Europe, with The Daily Mail reporting that the Red Devils had scouts in the stands at the Britannia Stadium last night, as Rami helped Los Che keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Stoke City in the Europa League.
The 26-year-old has also come to the attention of Barcelona though, with Pep Guardiola interested in bringing the former Fréjus starlet to the current La Liga and European champions at the end of the season.
With United beating Ajax 2-0 last night, both they and Valencia are on course to progress further in Europe’s second-tier tournament, which could mean Sir Alex Ferguson gets a closer look at Rami if the two sides are drawn together in the later stages.
