Manchester United and Manchester City are both reportedly tracking English U17 starlet Will Hughes.

The Derby County midfielder has dramatically risen to prominence after shining for the Young Lions in the Algarve last week, stealing the show against Holland, France and hosts Portugal.

Hughes has just one senior appearance to his name for the Rams thus far, coming on as a 90th minute substitute in the 3-2 defeat to Peterborough United at London Road back in November.

A lack of competitive action in the Championship hasn’t stopped the Premier League’s top two from showing a significant interest though, with The Daily Mail reporting that the Manchester rivals are ready to make an enticing offer to Nigel Clough.

Both Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini are preparing lucrative offers to pitch to the Pride Park outfit, according to the report, with the Scot hoping United’s history and tradition will sway Hughes towards Old Trafford.

City, meanwhile, will be hoping Hughes buys into the future vision at the Etihad Stadium, with one of the world’s best training complexes already in the pipeline under the Italian manager.
