Liverpool thrashed Brighton 6-1 at Anfield last night, with Kenny Dalglish delighted with his side's performance ahead of next week's Carling Cup final.

It was the first time Steven Gerrard, Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez have started together, with all three influential in securing progress to the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere, Tottenham were held to a draw by a spirited Stevenage side, who fully earned a replay at White Hart Lane against the joint favourites.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has insisted that a top four finish is a trophy, after Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup - their last chance for silverware this season.
