Gerrard: No letting up

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard insists it would be "stupid" to rest on their laurels should they win the Carling Cup on Sunday.

The Reds have been trophyless since winning the FA Cup in 2006 but there is a growing feeling that victory over Cardiff, with an FA Cup quarter-final to come, could be a pivotal point in terms of returning success to Anfield. Gerrard stressed it was an opportunity they could not afford to pass up.

"I'm hoping this is just the beginning for us," the England midfielder told the Liverpool Echo.
