Liverpool are leading Arsenal in the race to sign Colombian striker Jackson Martinez in the summer.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Anfield side are set to move for the striker, but Arsene Wenger is also credited with an interest in the £10million rated man.

Martinez has hinted that he may be leaving current club Jaguares in Mexico this summer and that Kenny Dalglish’s side may the be the destination over an Emirates Stadium move.

“There's a fairly good option to go to that club (Liverpool) but there's still nothing concrete,” he is quoted as saying.

Liverpool have had trouble finding the net this season and have become notorious for wasting goal scoring opportunities.

The 25-year-old is an athletic forward and possesses an eye for goal – he has scored 15 goals in 20 league games already this season for Jaguares.

Arsenal’s interest could be down to them having a lack of quality cover for Robin van Persie, who already found the net 23 times in the Premier League this season.
