Chelsea have sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas following Saturday's 1-0 defeat at West Brom that leaves the club three points adrift of fourth place.

Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed manager until the end of the season, when Chelsea will being the search for their ninth manager in eight years.

Sir Alex Ferguson hailed his side's performance after the "hardest away game of the season" saw Manchester United beat Tottenham 3-1 - but admitted they were lucky.

Elsewhere, Robin van Persie has admitted even he is surprised by his "insane" goalscoring form this season, after a brace at Liverpool took his tally to 25.
