Arsenal are leading the chase to sign Blackburn Rovers winger Junior Hoilett this summer.

The Metro is reporting that Arsene Wenger has taken a liking to young Canada-born winger and is interested in bringing him to Emirates Stadium.

However, a number of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, are also credited with an interest in the 21-year-old.

Hoilett’s current contract runs out at the end of the season and the Gunners are reportedly leading the way ahead of Harry Rednapp and Kenny Dalglish to sign him.

Rovers are still keen for him to sign a new contract, though their current relegation battle and poor performances are unlikely to help the Lancashire club convince the player to stay.

If Arsenal do manage to sign Hoilett, they will not be getting him completely free, despite his contract coming to an end.

Hoilett’s age means that Blackburn are in line to regain some compensation once the player signs for another club, although it will be far less than was mooted for a possible transfer in January.
