Mario Balotelli has promised Manchester City fans that he has 'grown up' off the field and is fully focused on helping Roberto Mancini's side deliver the Premier League title this season.

The tempestuous 21-year-old has scored 14 goals in all competitions this term for City, although continues to attract headlines for his antics away from football.

Balotelli was splashed across the tabloids once again over the weekend, but responded by netting in City's 2-0 victory over Bolton at the Etihad Stadium.

And, with City two points ahead of rivals Manchester United in pursuit of the Premier League title, Balotelli insists he is far more mature than this time last season.

"This year I have already scored 14 goals and a pair of penalties, and the intensity and effort I put into training this year, are not comparable to last season," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I have grown up, I have understood certain things."

City remain firm favourites to win the league this term and follow up their triumph in the final of the FA Cup last season.

Balotelli certainly feels that City will deliver the goods come may, as long as they maintain solid focus as a group and put pursuit of individual glories to one side.

"We are a big group of quality," he added.

"If we remain united as a group until the end, then United will be left behind us."
