Arsenal came from a goal behind - for a record fourth consecutive game - to secure a vital win against Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium last night.

Thomas Vermaelen's scored a last gasp winner as Arsenal moved to within a point of bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who are in third place.

Micah Richards has said he believes Manchester City need Carlos Tevez to return to the squad and fire Roberto Mancini's side to the league title.

Elsewhere, Kenny Dalglish has defended Liverpool's season, after a run of three defeats has left them seventh ahead of tonight's Merseyside derby.


Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be targeting Kwadwo Asamoah. The Ghana international midfielder is currently playing for Udinese. (talkSPORT)

Tottenham are said to be interested in signed AC Milan defender Taye Taiwo, who is currently on loan at Queens Park Rangers. (Metro)

And finally, Manchester City and Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain has said he will not consider his future until the end of the season. (London 24)
