Man City striker a target for Juventus

Manchester City are set to have their desire to keep hold of Edin Dzeko tested over the summer, with Juventus ready to enquire about securing the services of the Bosnian according to Talk SPORT.

Dzeko impressed early on this season, scoring six goals in his first three Premier League games before a brace in City’s 6-1 demolition of Manchester United at Old Traford back in October.

However the former Wolfsburg striker has seen his goals and first team opportunities dwindle, and went 11 games without finding the back of the net between November and January.

While he has started to fire more regularly in recent weeks, City’s reported interest in Gonzalo Higuain and the form of his fellow striker at the Etihad Stadium mean his prospects of regular football look bleak.

With Carlos Tevez also set to return for Manchester City in the coming weeks following a five moth hiatus, Dzeko could find his first-team opportunities even harder to come by.

Now TalkSPORT reports that Juventus are ready to capitalise on the situation and launch a bid for the striker over the summer, although the Premier League club demonstrated with Tevez in the January transfer window that they are unwilling to let their valuable assets leave on the cheap.

Juve have seen their Serie A title challenge falter in recent weeks thanks to a lack of goals, with the Bianconeri scoring just six goals in as many games - including three against lowly Catania - as they struggle to keep pace with league leaders A.C Milan.

With goals an issue as the pursue their first Scudetto since 2003, manager Antonio Conte will be desperate to address the issue ahead of another title challenge next season.
