Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly the frontrunners to complete a summer deal for Japanese forward Shinji Kagawa, who has rejected an offer to stay with Borussia Dortmund.

The 23-year-old has been a key performer for Dortmund once again this season; scoring 12 times in the Bundesliga as BVB look set to retain the title they won last term.

Naturally, the German champions are desperate to retain the services of Kagawa, and have offered him the opportunity to stay at the Westfalenstadion until 2016.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the interest of Chelsea and Manchester United has prompted Kagawa to snub Dortmund's proposal, and he is now targeting a summer move to the Premier League.

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the Japan international but, it would appear, Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford are his most likely destinations.

Kagawa has reportedly claimed that signing for Sir Alex Ferguson would be a 'dream', so Chelsea may face an uphill task persuading him to move to west London.
