Premier League; Saturday, 7th April 2012; 1500 KO.

Team News

Pepe Reina misses the first of three games through suspension for the Reds, with Brazilian international Alex Doni set to replace the Spaniard between the sticks.

Daniel Agger, Glen Johnson, Martin Kelly, Charlie Adam and Lucas Leiva are all out of action, but Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson could return to the fold.

Richard Dunne and Carlos Cuellar are amongst the absentees for the visitors, with striker Andreas Weimann and winger Charles N'Zogbia also unlikely to feature.

Lichaj: Villa playing for Petrov

Eric Lichaj says Aston Villa will be "playing for Stiliyan Petrov" when they travel to Liverpool this weekend.

Petrov began treatment for acute leukaemia on Monday and watched on from the stands as Alex McLeish’s side went down 4-2 against Chelsea last Saturday.

Lichaj admits the players have been given extra motivation by their captain’s plight.

"He came into the dressing room before the game and said hi to the guys and he was in high spirits," he told

"Sometimes you get a bit of extra energy in you to play for someone and on Saturday everybody played for Stan.

"I heard the crowd on the 19th minute and it is appreciated for Stan and for everyone and hopefully he recovers well."

The defeat against Chelsea leaves Villa just five points above the Premier League relegation zone with just eight games remaining.

And Lichaj admits there is no time to dwell on that defeat.

"We went down to 2-0 then brought it back and we're not feeling really good now,” he said. "We're not happy about it but we've got to move on."
