Ex-Cologne manager Stale Solbakken has given an indication that Lukas Podolski will sign for Arsenal this summer, by claiming his former charge will be playing in the Premier League next season.

Solbakken was sacked by Cologne last week, but is well aware of any transfer deals already in place involving the German club's players, hence has the inside track on Podolski.

The Germany international has been frequently linked with a move to Arsenal in recent months, and reports claim the Gunners will sign Podolski for £10.9 million when the transfer window opens.

Any deal has yet to be confirmed by either of the clubs concerned, but Solbakken has hinted that the Premier League will be Podolski's destination come the end of the season.

"He'll be in the same country as you guys," Solbakken told talkSPORT when questioned about the prospects of Podolski joining Arsenal.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed his best season to date this term, having scored 17 goals in 26 appearances for Cologne.

Podolski has, however, been unable to prevent his current employers from being embroiled in a Bundesliga relegation battle.
