Fernando's finding his Chelsea form

Fernando Torres couldn't have hit the goal trail at a more perfect time, says Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.

The Spanish striker netted an impressive hat-trick in Sunday's 6-1 demolition of QPR at Stamford Bridge, adding to his goal in last Tuesday's Champions League semi-final second leg clash against Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Whilst the £50million forward has been heavily criticised for his uncharacteristic performances for the Blues in the past 12 months, only Frank Lampard has contributed more goals for Roberto Di Matteo's side in 2012.

"Fernando has been playing well all season but so many times he was unlucky with chances," Cech told the club's official website. "On Sunday with those goals he was at the start of the [move] and it's great for him to see the ball go into the back of the net.

"For me he settled quickly but was unlucky not to score goals. Now it is good to see everyone in good shape and ready to compete because this is where it matters the most."

Chelsea welcome Newcastle United to Stamford Bridge tomorrow evening, and will be hoping to defeat Alan Pardew's charges in a bid to keep alive their dreams of a top four finish in the Premier League this term.

Victory will mean the Blues leapfrog the Magpies into fifth spot, and Cech is confident that his teammates' experience of the big occasion will help them overcome the next challenge against the Magpies.

"I think it will be really important on Wednesday," the 29-year-old added. "Newcastle are in a position they were in a long time ago, and we have been there many times so it could be the decisive factor on Wednesday.

"We have everything to play for and it will be an exciting game. The experience of our team could help.

"It's clear that we would like to go to Munich feeling it is job done and we can only concentrate on the final, but we have to fight for it to happen."
