Sandro: We can catch Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro is backing his side to overhaul Arsenal and reclaim third place in the Premier League.

Spurs had been third for much of the season, but a poor run of results during March and April saw the club slip down the table. Their north London rivals took advantage, and currently sit third behind the Manchester clubs, but Sandro believes Tottenham can still recover lost ground.

Harry Redknapp's side currently trail the Gunners by four points, but can move to within one point with victory over Bolton at the Reebok Stadium tonight.

Sandro sees Tottenham's remaining fixtures against Fulham, Bolton and Aston Villa as three cup finals, as they chase down Arsene Wenger's side.

According to, Sandro said: "We can catch Arsenal and finish third. This is my dream and the whole team as well."

Chelsea's progress into the Champions League final has put extra pressure on teams chasing European qualification, as a Blues' victory over Bayern would knock the fourth-placed team out of the Champions League next season.

"We know we could finish fourth and not get in the Champions League if Chelsea win against Munich in the final so that makes finishing third extra important," added Sandro.

Two of Tottenham's rivals for a Champions League spot, Newcastle and Chelsea, play each other tonight at Stamford Bridge, and a Spurs victory over Owen Coyle's Bolton would put Redknapp's team in a strong position going into the final two rounds of fixtures.

The current occupiers of third place, Arsenal, face Norwich at home at the weekend before a final day match against West Brom, which will be Roy Hodgson's final game in charge before taking up England duty.
