United maintain slim title hopes

Manchester United beat Swansea 2-0 at Old Trafford to take the Barclays Premier League title race to the final day of the season, but they failed to find the glut of goals they needed to turn up the heat on Manchester City.

First-half goals from Paul Scholes and Ashley Young were all the hosts could muster as they tried to respond to their rivals' victory over Newcastle.

The big win they were looking for did not arrive, meaning, barring a freak United result against Sunderland, City will win the league with victory at home to QPR next weekend.
