Chelsea’s interest in Joao Moutinho will have been heightened by his recent comments, suggesting he may be open to a move to the Premier League and Stamford Bridge.

A report from talkSPORT claims the Blues have been tracking the Porto midfielder for the past year and could be ready to make a move for him in a summer that is expected to see significant changes in Roberto di Matteo’s squad.

“Every player wants to experiment with different leagues,” the report quotes him as saying.

“Right now I'm happy because I am playing in one of the biggest in Europe. But if a good opportunity arose we'd have to see.

“The Premier League? I can only say it's one of the best leagues in the world - but I have not spoken with any club.”

One of the changes at Chelsea may be Di Matteo, as there is still uncertainty over who owner Roman Abramovich will appoint to the vacant manager’s post.

Former Blues midfielder Di Matteo won’t have done his chances any harm by leading the club to an FA Cup final victory on Saturday and a Champions League final to come the weekend after next.

Moutinho has just helped Porto successfully defend their league title and the report claims he would cost Abramovich in the region of £25million.
