Daniel Agger has admitted he is still reeling from the disappointment of missing out on lifting the FA Cup following defeat against Chelsea on Saturday, but says Liverpool will do their best to lift themselves for the final two games of the season.

Chelsea recorded a 2-1 win over Liverpool to claim their fourth FA Cup success since the new Wembley stadium opened, while the Reds were left counting the cost of a defeat which casts their campaign in a different light once more.

Aside from their League Cup success Liverpool have disappointed this season under manager Kenny Dalglish, with their hopes of ending a three-season absence from the Champions League long gone.

They have the chance to gain a modicum of revenge when they go up against Chelsea in the Premier League this evening, but Agger says he is still coming to terms with Saturday’s defeat.

"There's not much more to say right now. We are all just so disappointed," he told the club's official website.

"We have got two games left in the season and we have got to try and win them. That is how we will start to move forward. It is difficult right now to think about anything else.

"When you get into an FA Cup final, you really want to win it. Nobody ever remembers the runners-up. Nobody likes to be a loser."

Liverpool can move up to eighth with victory over the Blues this evening while they will still have their sights set on finishing above rivals Everton, who are currently in seventh.

Despite a tumultuous season to date Agger remains adamant that Liverpool have what it takes to challenge at the top of the Premier League next time round.

"Can we challenge the top teams next season? Yes, of course. We have moved forward a lot this season but right now the only feelings are of disappointment."
