Liverpool have been alerted to the availability of Eljero Elia after the winger stated he wanted to leave Juventus this summer.

A report from talkSPORT claims the Holland international was a Kenny Dalglish target last summer before opting for Serie A over a move to Anfield when he left former side Hamburg.

The Reds may now get the chance to sign him after a frustrating season for the 25-year-old saw him miss out on a place in Holland’s provisional squad for Euro 2012.

“I want to leave Juventus. I want to enjoy playing football again. I remained quiet all year and was always positive towards the club and the team, but I never got a chance to prove my worth,” he told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.

“I didn't play much and consequently miss out on Euro 2012. It's fair to say this season has been a failure. It's really hurt me, but I've become stronger mentally.

“I'm 25 now and I still have a long career ahead of me. I came from far, but I will have to start all over again.”

Juventus were crowned Serie A champions at the weekend when a 2-0 victory over Cagliari was complemented by Inter Milan beating AC Milan 4-2 in the San Siro derby, handing the title to the Bianconeri.

It has been difficult for the skilful winger to force his way into Antonio Conte’s side, but the fact Juve have not lost a single game so far this season always limited the chances of any significant changes to the line up.

Liverpool have been weak in the wide areas for much of this disappointing season, which culminated in a 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
