Liverpool earned some revenge for their FA Cup final defeat against Chelsea with an impressive win against the Blues at Anfield last night.

Kenny Dalglish hailed a commanding performance in his side's last home game of the season, with a rampant Andy Carroll inspiring the Reds to victory.

Roberto Di Matteo to defend his team selection after the match, which leaves Chelsea facing their worst league finish in the Abramovich era.

Elsewhere, Manchester City are ready to offer Roberto Mancini a new three year contact with the Citizens on the verge of winning the Premier League title.


In today's transfer news, Serie A champions Juventus are reportedly planning a move for in form Arsenal striker Robin van Persie. (The Daily Telegraph)

Benoit Assou-Ekotto insists he is committed to Tottenham, distancing himself from an interview in which he appeared to suggest he could leave the club. (PA)
