West Brom defender Gareth McAuley has thanked Roy Hodgson for improving him as a player and believes he will have the same positive impact on the England squad.
Centre-back McAuley has experienced his first taste of Barclays Premier League football this season at the age of 31 following his summer move from Ipswich. The Northern Ireland international has quickly adapted to the top flight and has recognised the impact of new England head coach Hodgson ahead of Sunday's home clash with Arsenal.
McAuley said: "I've learned so much from Roy Hodgson. There are a few lads I know at Fulham and they all still talk about him. They've learned a lot from him as well. I knew that when I came here I was going to improve as a player under him and that it was all about grasping that opportunity."
