Chelsea's new German signing Marko Marin has backed Chelsea's "better" players to beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

The Blues summer signing was brought in from the Bundesliga, where he played against Bayern with Werder Bremen.

The German international told BBC Sport that Bayern lack strength in depth in defence, and believes Chelsea's attacking players can exploit gaps in the back line during the tie.

When asked if the German giants defence was a weak link, Marin said: "Yes. I watched the German cup final. They made big errors."

Bayern lost 5-2 to Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund in the cup final and Marin added that he thought Bayern would finish runners-up to the Blues as well.

"Chelsea have better players and will do well if they play offensively," said the 23-year-old. "I think [Chelsea] will win at the weekend."

Bayern are four-time European champions while Chelsea are still searching for the maiden Champions League trophy. Both clubs have overcome tough La Liga tests en-route to the final, with the Blues dispatching Barcelona and Bayern seeing off Real Madrid in the semi-finals, but Marin warned that the Germans will still pose a difficult task for Roberto Di Matteo's side.

"I think the strongest Bayern player is Franck Ribery because of his dribbling and because he's a goal threat," said Marin. "There's also Mario Gomez. He's scored a lot of goals in the Champions League and is a constant danger."

However, Marin backed his new club, who he is set to join for around £6m this summer, to triumph over the Bundesliga giants if they keep these two stars quiet.
