Football fans believe Chelsea will triumph over Bayern Munich in the Champions League final tonight.

GiveMeFootball conducted an online poll of fans from all over the world and the voting indicated that the majority were expecting Chelsea to come out winners in the end...just!

A little under 175,000 took part in the survey on Facebook and it was marginal but 55 per cent of those who participated thought Roberto di Matteo would lead his side to another historic victory and would arguably the most successful caretaker manager ever.

The fans have gone against the accepted wisdom in the lead up to the game where the German side have been the bookies favourites.

This has been put down to the Stamford Bridge side having to endure significant losses due to injury and suspension.

David Luiz and Gary Cahill were rushed back from injury to take up their places in the middle of the Chelsea defence – necessary action due to captain John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic both banned from the game.

Brazilian midfielder Ramires is also missing because of suspension, along with Raul Meireles, and Florent Malouda failed a late fitness test, so young defender Ryan Betrand has been thrust into midfield top make a daunting debut in the competition.

Bayern have worries of their own with Holger Badstuber, Luiz Gustavo and David Alaba all missing due to accumulation of yellow cards, but they are playing in their home ground.

Chelsea have been billed as the underdogs by most in the media, but a marginal majority of football fans around think they will upset the odds and complete a fairytale turnaround of their season.
