Shane Long came off the bench to send the Republic of Ireland into the Euro 2012 finals with a deserved victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The West Brom frontman headed Aiden McGeady's 78th-minute cross firmly past keeper Asmir Begovic after first McGeady and then fellow substitute Jon Walters had been denied by the woodwork.

Walters might have doubled his side's lead within a minute, but was denied by Begovic, whose opposite number Keiren Westwood had earlier kept out to long-range efforts from Miralem Pjanic.
