Bayern Munich's interest in Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is genuine, but the German giants are in no rush to tie up a deal for the 26-year-old.

Recent reports have speculated that Dzeko is top of Bayern's summer wishlist, but officials in Munich have suggested that the club are willing to remain patient in their pursuit of the frontman.

Speaking to BILD, Munich's sporting director Christian Nerlinger said: "We are in no hurry with regard to this. We are under no pressure."

Following the release of Croatian striker Ivica Olic, Bayern are eager to increase their striking options, and Dzeko is seen as the perfect fit.

With an impressive track record in the Bundesliga from his spell at Wolfsburg prior to joining Roberto Mancini's side, Bayern believe Dzeko would slot seamlessly into his Allianz Arena surroundings should he return to Germany this summer.

The acquisition of Dzeko would also present Bayern with the option of playing him alongside the prolific Mario Gomez, whilst he would provide a decent alternative to the German ace.

However, the Champions League finalists are in no rush to make an official approach to City, rejecting claims that personal terms have already been agreed with the Bosnia international.

Nerlinger added: "Those reports are just not true."

With Bayern's attempts to bolster their firepower well-publicised, this transfer story is worth keeping an eye on as the summer transfer window gets into full swing.
