Liverpool have unveiled Brendan Rodgers as their new manager, with the 39-year-old admitting he could not turn down such an opportunity.

Rodgers said he will "fight for his life" to bring success to the club, promising the process to challenge for the Barclays Premier League title "begins today".

Frank Lampard has been ruled out of Euro 2012 after suffering a thigh injury, with Jordan Henderson called up to the squad as his replacement.

Roy Hodgson admitted the news is a "huge blow" for England, with Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry also out and Scott Parker struggling for fitness.


Chelsea have agreed a £38m deal for Brazilian international Hulk from Porto, as Roman Abramovich continues to overhaul his squad. (The Guardian)

Bayer Leverkusen have ruled out a move for Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov - unless they can sign him on a free transfer. (The Telegraph)
