Barcelona have emerged as serious contenders to sign Rennes midfielder and reported Arsenal target Yann M'Vila, according to talkSPORT.

The 21-year-old French international has emerged as one of the most sought after players in all of Europe, after turning in a series of combative displays in Ligue 1 over the past two seasons.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of his fellow compatriot, and is determined to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

But, a combination of his fluctuating valuation - now believed to be £25million - as well as rival interest from a host of different clubs, is making Arsenal's proposed transfer plans increasingly difficult.

M'Vila is under contract at Rennes until 2015, but is expected to leave for pastures new after the conclusion of Euro 2012, where he is set to star.

However, the midfielder will miss Monday's Group D clash against England through injury, though the knock is not deemed to be too serious that it will affect his summer departure.
