Liverpool have been put on red alert after Juventus winger Eljero Elia revealed he is ready to join another club in the next few weeks, reports talkSPORT.

The 25-year-old Dutch international made just four appearances for the Serie A champions last season, and will leave Italy in favour of pastures new ahead of 2012-13.

Elia missed out on a place in Bert van Marwijk's squad for Euro 2012 this summer, partly down to his lack of form and playing time, and could now be on his way to the Premier League.

Newly appointed Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is yet to make his prospective transfer targets known, but Elia has long been on the Reds' radar, and could move to Anfield in a cut-price deal, particularly after the player's latest comments signaling a transfer is in the offing.

"I'll leave Juventus," he confirmed in an interview with Dutch TV channel Eredivisie Live. "I've already agreed with Juventus that I will be joining another club.

"I just have the desire to start enjoying football again and my agent is evaluating all offers."

But, Liverpool have a surplus of midfield options with Joe Cole and Alberto Aquilani both set to return to Merseyside following season long loan spells away from the club. So, there is a growing feeling that the club will need to sell before they buy, in order to keep all players happy, whilst maintaining tough competition for places.
