Andy Carroll is set to start for England as the Three Lions look for their first win of Euro 2012 in tonight's Group D match against Sweden.

Roy Hodgson will be hoping Carroll can exploit Sweden's aerial weakness with Erik Hamren's side conceding six of their last seven goals from headers.

Elsewhere, at Euro 2012 last night, the Republic of Ireland crashed out of the tournament after being beaten 4-0 by reigning champions Spain.

Italy must now beat Ireland and hope Spain win their final Group C fixtures if they are to qualify after they were held to a draw by Croatia.


Manchester City are trying to offload Carlos Tevez, Edin Dzeko, Emmanuel Adebayor to raise funds to buy Arsenal captain Robin van Persie. (Daily Mirror)

Joe Cole is set to return to Liverpool after new manager Brendan Rodgers said he will give him an "opportunity to…show his qualities. (Sky Sports)
