Ashley Cole has backed England's "bulldogs" to bury their major tournament demons at the European Championship.

Cole is desperate to crown his glittering career with an international trophy in what would be his 100th cap in the Euro 2012 final. The left-back, whose Champions League triumph with Chelsea last month helped him complete the full set of major club prizes, will take one step closer to his dream if England beat Italy in Sunday's quarter-final.

Cole, who will earn his 98th cap in Kiev, told BBC Radio Five Live: "You know with most English lads, and you can see it in this team, we're like 11 bulldogs who will never give up, who will always work for each other and basically die on the pitch for each other."
