John Terry is on trial at Westminster Magistrates Court today, with the Chelsea captain accused of racially abusing QPR's Anton Ferdinand.

If found guilty, Terry faces a maximum fine of £2,500, but could also be looking at a lengthly FA ban. The trial is expected to last for five days.

Ryan Giggs has been named as Great Britain captain for London 2012, with the Manchester United midfielder saying it was a "tremendous honour".

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a £9m deal to sign Ajax captain and Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen, the club have confirmed.


In today's transfer news, Bayer Leverkusen have rejected a £17m bid for Germany striker Andre Schurrle, the club have confirmed. (ESPN)

Arsenal have joined the race for Chelsea target Victor Moses, who looks certain to leave Wigan Athletic this summer. (Daily Mail)

And finally, Frank Lampard has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to LA Galaxy, saying he has no plans to join the club. (Sky Sports)
