Arsenal are preparing to offer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain an improved contract following an impressive start to his career at the Emirates Stadium.

Oxlade-Chamberlain quickly adapted from League One to the Premier League after moving to north London from Southampton last year, and his performances were recognised with a place in England's Euro 2012 squad.

The 19-year-old is now set to be further rewarded by his club for a fine first 12 months as a Gunner with a new deal, despite having four years to run on his current agreement.

According to The Sun, talks between the teenager's representatives and Arsenal will begin later this month, and there are hopes that tying down Oxlade-Chamberlain will convince Theo Walcott to do the same.

Walcott is out of contract next summer and talks regarding his future with the club have hit an impasse, and there were suggestions the winger would leave during the transfer window.

However, Arsene Wenger convinced the 23-year-old to stay with the club in the short-term at least, and negotiations are expected to begin again shortly.
