FIFA 13 have given fans a first chance to get their hands on the newest game in the franchise, with a playable demo released on all major formats (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) today.

The September 11th release date comes two weeks before the game is launched for real in North America, with the European version to follow three days later on the 28th.

First reports on the demo, which allows you to play as AC Milan, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus or Manchester City at this stage, have been very positive.

EA Sports again appear to have made improvements, something they’ve continuously done over the past five years amidst tough competition from Konami in the football computer game market.

The biggest improvement looks to be in the area of first touch control, an area which football purists have taken issue with EA in the past because of the instant control available with all players.

That certainly isn’t the case this year, with varying degrees of quality on show depending on what level of ability any particular player has. Line producer Nick Channon discusses this in detail in the video below, and also compares footage from the newest version with last year’s efforts in FIFA 12.
