Qualifying for World Cup 2014 in Brazil continued last night and there were some cracking goals going in all over the planet.

GMF took on the task of going through all the strikes to hit the back of the respective nets and pluck out a select few for you, dear reader, to enjoy.

First up we go to the home of English football and Wembley Stadium, where the Three Lions were hoping to chalk up another victory after the 5-0 thrashing they gave to Moldova four days earlier, this time against Ukraine.

Sadly for Roy Hodgson his men could only huff and puff to a draw, thanks to a late Frank Lampard penalty.

The goal they went behind to, however, was worthy of winning any game – Yevhen Konoplyanka delivered the ball into the top corner with a sensational strike from nearly 30 yards.

Free-kick specialists seemed to be on their game in this latest round of internationals; Wales’ Gareth Bale put a little gloss on what was a desperately poor performance by his side away to Serbia, losing 6-1.

Meanwhile, Porto star and Manchester United target James Rodriguez exhibited the precision in his left boot during Colombia’s 3-1 win over Chile in the South American qualifying.

Possibly the goal of the day goes to Guatemalan attacker Carlos Ruiz, who rifled in a sumptuous half-volley from all of 35-yeards to give his side a win in their qualification clash against Antigua & Barbuda.

Not only long-range screamers caught GMF’s collective eye, Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko sold two defenders with a classy feint and slotted a cool finish into the bottom corner in Bosnia-Herzegovina’s 4-1 thrashing of Latvia.

GMF always like to give recognition to young stars making their initial steps into the game, so we felt compelled to include this gem, scored by Arsenal’s Conor Henderson, from the Ireland U21s victory over Italy U21s. Enjoy.
