Barclays Premier League

Sunday, September 23. Kick-off: 1330

Brendan Rodgers made 11 changes for Liverpool's win over Young Boys in the Europa League and will recall the likes of Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez to his starting line-up.

Raheem Sterling could also continue, having been one of the Reds' most impressive players so far this season

Robin van Persie and Patrice Evra were both rested for Manchester United's defeat of Galatasaray on Wednesday, and should both get starts at Anfield

There will be no place for Wayne Rooney or Ashley Young, however, who are both out injured with thigh and hip problems respectively.

Ferguson: Occasion may get to players

Sir Alex Ferguson stated his full support for Liverpool following the revelations of the independent Hillsborough panel, but hopes the events of the past week will not have an effect on the players of either side on Sunday.

The weekend meeting between the two great rivals represents Liverpool's first Anfield outing since the club's fans were exonerated from wrongdoing in 1989, during which 96 Reds lost their lives at Hillsborough.

And Ferguson said it would be foolish to assume that the players from both Liverpool and Manchester United would not have been distracted by the full extent of last week's revelations.

"It’s a possibility, I don’t deny that. Human nature can be that way," said the Manchester United manager.

"For instance, when we played Manchester City for the 50th anniversary of Munich, the place was so flat in the dressing room before the game. I even felt it myself.

"We just couldn't perform and we were just glad to get it out the way because it was such an emotional day for us. It could be that way on Sunday.

"But I don’t think we should get into that now. I think we should let the players get on with it. There is enough pressure on them at the moment anyway. Liverpool have done their bit and we’ve done our bit, so let the game go on."
