Chelsea will win the first major domestic competition of the season, according to the fans, with a GMF poll revealing football fanatics expect Roberto di Matteo's side to claim the Capital One Cup.

The Blues romped through to the last 16 of the competition with a mauling of Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday - plundering six goals in a convincing victory against the Championship side.

Chelsea will now face Manchester United - who beat Newcastle 2-1 - in the next round and the west Londoners are being tipped to get the better of their illustrious opponents and go all the way in the cup.

Over 33,000 fans responded to GMF's poll to find out the fans' favourite for Capital One Cup glory, and 35 percent backed Chelsea to follow last season's FA Cup and Champions League double with more silverware.

Manchester United, though, also won their fair share of support, with 28 percent of the voters believing Sir Alex Ferguson's side can win the competition for a fifth time.

Not far behind United were Arsenal, with 26 percent supporters confident Arsene Wenger's always youthful cup side to go one better than they did in the Wembley final in 2011.

The Gunners are without a trophy since their FA Cup triumph in 2005, and winning the Capital One Cup would remove to monkey from Wenger's back.

Liverpool, meanwhile, only have the support of six percent of fans to defend the crown they won against Cardiff last season, while just three percent think Tottenham can record their fifth League Cup win.

Just two percent of fans expect a team from outside the Premier League's elite to mount a challenge for the Capital One Cup title, with the likes of Southampton and Sunderland still left in the competition.
